Standing Together Through Uncertainty

When I joined WomenServe in June 2024, I anticipated engaging in meaningful work, however, it wasn't until my first visit to Rajasthan last November that I truly grasped the depth of our vision. Meeting the women and girls we support, hearing their stories, and witnessing their resilience firsthand profoundly impacted me. Their determination to overcome challenges and pursue education and economic opportunities amidst adversity left an indelible mark on my heart.

In mid-May 2025, we had planned to return to Rajasthan to collaborate with our partners on strengthening programs and exploring new ways to amplify the voices of women and girls. However, after seeing breaking news and travel alerts about escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, our team collectively decided to prioritize the safety of our colleagues in India. This decision underscores our unwavering commitment to the well-being of our team and the communities we serve.

At WomenServe, safety is paramount. Our risk management approach emphasizes clear communication, proactive planning, and continuous support for our partners. We are dedicated to ensuring our teams and communities have the necessary resources to navigate these challenging times, always with cultural sensitivity and local needs in mind. Recognizing the emotional toll that such uncertainties can impose, we are also committed to supporting the mental well-being of our staff and partners. This includes implementing practices that promote mental health and resilience.

Our local partners have demonstrated remarkable adaptability, adjusting their operations to maintain support for women and girls. They have transitioned to remote work temporarily and are returning to the field as we speak. They have developed flexible community engagement strategies and strengthened local communication channels to keep programs running smoothly despite the uncertainty. Their resilience reinforces the importance and impact of our work.

We are eager to return to Jodhpur this summer, where we will collaborate closely with our partners to enhance capacity and maximize the impact of your generous contributions. Your continued support enables us to build more resilient communities, create lasting opportunities for women and girls, and ensure that every dollar makes a meaningful difference.
